The Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has asked the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony for clarification on a report that was published in multiple news sections claiming that 200 govt officials will be performing Hajj this year on the state treasury. The report stated that these officials will be paid for by the public exchequer.
It has come to light that the government of Pakistan has completed compiling a list of approximately two hundred officials and officers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in preparation for the 2018 Hajj.
According to additional sources, the names of Federal Minister Mufti Abdul Shakoor Shah’s brother and friends are included on the list. This year, the minister himself will be going to Mecca to conduct the ritual of Hajj.
The list contains the names of 35 individuals who work in the office of a federal minister. These individuals include five drivers, four gunmen, one cook, and 11 personal secretaries and assistants.
The Shehbaz government has revealed the Hajj-2022 package, which estimates that the total cost of the religious pilgrimage will be greater than Rs855,000.
During a news conference, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Mufti Abdul Shakoor, announced that the federal cabinet had approved a support sum of 150,000 rupees for pilgrims, which would bring the overall cost of the Hajj package down to only little more than 700,000 rupees.
Every year, certain members of the employees of the ministry go to assist in various duties, such as lugging baggage and the like.
