PTI warns of strong reaction if Imran Khan is arrested

Several hours after Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah issued a warning regarding the possibility of Imran Khan arrest upon the expiry of his bail, PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi issued a warning to the government that if the party’s chairman is arrested, the government should be prepared to face a “strong backlash” from PTI workers. If Imran Khan is taken into custody, the PTI has stated that they will take strong retaliatory action. “And if PTI workers receive word of Imran Khan’s detention, they should come upon it with a prompt response to it,” Qureshi said during a press conference following his attendance at the party’s core committee meeting.

Imran Khan, who had previously served in the role of prime minister, presided over the gathering after returning home from Peshawar at his home in Bani Gala.

Qureshi stated to the press that the threat that Sanaullah made against Imran Khan was heard by everyone.

Qureshi stated during the news conference that “arresting Imran Khan will be a political mistake.” He also utilized the opportunity to tell party workers to begin preparing their response to Khan’s arrest in the event that it occurs.

Aside from the worries over the arrest, the leader of the PTI stated that no legislator from the party would appear before the Speaker of the National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to authenticate their resignations. He went on to say that the PTI would be running candidates in the by-elections that were going to be held for the 20 seats in the Punjab Assembly that were vacant.

The former minister of international affairs claimed that the government intended to manipulate the results of the election through the cooperation of the police and the local administration.

In addition to this, Qureshi mentioned that members of the PTI’s core committee have voiced their concerns about the current state of the country.
