Federal Cabinet passed Election Amendment Bill 2022

According to a statement that was distributed by the Office of the Prime Minister on Tuesday, the Federal Cabinet voted in favor of the Election Amendment Bill 2022 during a meeting that was headed over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The statement indicates that at the meeting, the cabinet also approved presenting the measure to the National Assembly. This approval was included in the meeting. In addition to this, it gave its blessing to the recommendation that the Prime Minister make to President Arif Alvi about the appointment of the Governor of Punjab.

According to the release, “The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will launch a pilot project for the abroad Pakistanis to cast their votes in by-elections.” The statement went on to say that the project will be submitted to the Parliament of Pakistan.

The project will be launched for electronic voting and biometric verification, and the report will decide whether the voting procedure was workable for overseas Pakistanis and whether the verification method was applicable.
