Irani film ‘Holy Spider’ shocked Cannes film festival by showing nudity scenes

A grim thriller of Irani film ‘Holy Spider‘ shook things up and won an ovation lasting seven minutes during Cannes Film Festival. According to film, 16 prostitutes have discovered murdered in the streets of Mashhad, Iran between 2000 and 2001.

Rahimi becomes fed up with the police’s indifference to solving the crime. So, she takes matters into her own hands and investigates the murder. It turns out that the serial killer is a war veteran named Saeed. This is just one of the many twists and turns in the story that this drama has to offer.

At this year’s Cannes, Irani film “Holy Spider” has guaranteed to be a hot topic. Some people left the theatre because of the violence. However, others said it reminded them of David Finchera’s “Zodiac”. It may be a contender for the Palme d’Or.

The film’s depiction of a bare-breasted female character in the opening scene and several sex scenes have guaranteed to enrage the Iranian regime. It has filmed in Jordan. In a few brief words during the opening, Abbasi referred to the fact that films in Iran haven’t authorised to include such imagery.
