Army conducting relief operations in Balochistan forest fire: ISPR

An update on the Balochistan forest fire has been published by Inter-Services Public Relations Pakistan (ISPR). According to a statement released by the ISPR, the blaze in the cedar forest that is located close to the Shergali and Sherani districts began on May 18, and it has been burning continuously.

In coordination with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the Army and the Fire and Civil Defense of Balochistan are now carrying out relief operations and firefighting actions.

According to the information available, both the Pakistan Army and the FC Balochistan are doing everything in their power to help, and they are in communication with both HQ 12 and the PDMA. According to the information provided by the ISPR, the majority of the fire is located on mountain tops that are 3,000 meters (10,000 feet) above sea level and are located away from population centres, however, the fire is still continuing to spread because of the hot weather, the inaccessible terrain, and the dry winds.

According to the Pakistan Army, the location of the fire is approximately eight to ten kilometers distant from the nearest village. However, ten families who were living in homes that were cut off from the rest of the community have been relocated to a medical relief camp that was established by FC Balochistan in Manikhawa.

They went on to say that the FC Wing 2, the Army Helicopter, and the Levies were all participating in the firefighting and rescue operations alongside the local authority. One helicopter is being used to drop water on the fire, while the second helicopter is being utilized to deliver fireballs and chemicals that put out fires.

On the other hand, the NDMA has supplied the FC Balochistan with 400 fireballs, 200 fire suits, blankets, tents, mats, and fire extinguishers. All of these items can be found in the previous sentence. Additionally, the army has transported relief supplies all the way from Lahore to Zhob.
