Shahbaz Gill’s wife reported being a COMSATS defaulter of 18.6M rupees

It was discovered on Thursday that Izza Asad Rasool, the wife of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill, owed approximately Rs18.6 million to the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) University in Islamabad. This information came to light after the university issued a show-cause notice to the defaulter.

In the meantime, it has been reported that Gill has been using his position to threaten the administration of COMSATS in order to prevent action from being taken against his wife.

The COMSATS University has issued a payment demand for official costs of Rs86,000 and $99,000. These funds were spent on tuition fees, a living stipend, and airfare.

According to the notice, Rasool traveled to the United States in 2011 in order to enroll in graduate school at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in order to earn a master’s degree that would eventually lead to a doctorate in the field of labor and industrial relations. It was anticipated that the scholar would finish her studies by the year 2016, after which she would return to Pakistan, however, she did not.

But at the time when Rasool left for her studies in the United States, she was not married to Gill, who worked for the same American institution. The couple did not get married until December 2011.

According to the warning, Rasool would not be able to finish her coursework by the specified period, and she was also unreliable in presenting her academic work.

The progress reports, which are required to be handed in every three months, have been delayed.

Izza did not petition for an extension of her job contract with COMSATS, which had expired on June 30, 2016, nor did she request an extension in the amount of time she was allowed to spend in Pakistan during her leave, which had been granted from August 1, 2011, to July 31, 2012.

Rasool has been told by the COMSATS that if she does not react to this letter within the next 15 days, the university will begin taking legal and administrative action against her.

It is important to note that Rasool has not been back to Pakistan ever since she departed for the United States.
