The federal government has decided to take action against those who defame others by posting x-rated and immoral content on social media sites.
In a statement issued on Friday, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah stated that people who promote immoral content on social media platforms will be arrested.
He stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that such stuff should not be accepted and that social media should not be used for tossing people’s turbans, and that this is in accordance with the law. He also stated that individuals involved in such criminal acts would be dealt with harshly and that those who spread filth, such as immoral movies and photographs, will be annihilated, according to the Minister.
FIA and other relevant authorities, he added, have also been given specific directives in this regard.
Following a notification of Social Media Rules 2021 released by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication last year, unsuitable and obscene material was prohibited on social media platforms.
Extremist, terrorist, hateful, obscene, and violent content is prohibited from being broadcast live, and the promotion of immoral and obscene material would be considered a felony under the law.
The content relating to any individual will not be published, and content that violates the privacy of others will also be prohibited, according to the legislation, which is very specific.
Content that affects the children’s mental and physical development, as well as their morale, are prohibited under the Social Media Rules, and all social media organizations, including YouTube, Facebook TikTok, Twitter, and Google Plus, are required to adhere to the rules as a condition of participation.
