In a raid on Sunday at Islamabad International Airport, a team of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) agents arrested Sheikh Rashid Shafique, nephew of the former interior minister Sheikh Rashid.
Rashid Shafique was arrested at Islamabad International Airport as soon as he returned from his Umrah pilgrimage. He was nominated as a witness in a case brought against PTI leaders in Faisalabad.
Sheikh Rasheed, in a statement on the topic, stated that he, along with Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, and others, had been charged in the case in which his nephew has been detained by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
In his words, “the government is retaliating against the PTI, and they will arrest a large number of PTI leaders ahead of Imran Khan’s long march towards Islamabad at the end of May.”
Sheikh Rasheed, the leader of the Awami Muslim League, stated yesterday that Imran Khan is currently going through a difficult moment and that abandoning him would be a betrayal.
Former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed said he was meeting with Imran Khan and that he would not do anything that would harm the country. He also stated that Imran Khan would not take any action against the country.
Sheikh Rasheed announced that he would be stepping down from politics since Imran Khan is going through a difficult phase at the moment and abandoning him would be a betrayal.
He stressed that there is no dispute with any of the institutions, but he also stated that the manner in which Imran Khan was pushed to the wall was incorrect, as everyone believes that the former prime minister is being abused by the establishment.
Sheikh Rasheed has stated that the political situation in the country is in grave danger and that he will not be a passive witness to this situation. While lashing out against the present government, Sheikh Rasheed claimed that while you people used to refer to us as “chosen,” you are actually “imported.”
According to the leader of the Awami Muslim League, the incident at Masjid-e-Nabawi should not have occurred, but people are hostile to their appearance.
