On Saturday, a sessions court denied a petition filed by PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi seeking the filing of a lawsuit against Hamza Shehbaz and others in connection with a brawl during the Punjab Assembly session.
Mr. Pervaiz Elahi petition for the purpose of bringing a case against Hamza Shehbaz, his challenger and the victor in the election for Punjab chief minister, was denied by Additional Sessions Judge Hafiz Rizwan Aziz.
The police department had already submitted a report regarding the matter in the case and requested that the petition be dismissed.
As the court noted, “the petitioner may choose to have his statement to the investigating officer recorded.”
According to the police report filed in court, a case has already been filed in connection with the commotion in the Punjab Assembly. According to the police report, “Police are investigating the event, and action will be taken against individuals guilty of the occurrence.”
Prior to this, in an interview with the media, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi stated that he has always had high regard for the judiciary.
According to him, “the election for the chief minister of Punjab never took place, and I was a candidate and was exposed to torture.” According to Elahi, “the election of chief minister is always held within the legislature and not from the gallery.” “At the moment, the province is experiencing a constitutional crisis,” he explained.
