Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will challenge the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) decision directing the National Assembly Speaker to administer the oath of office to Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Hamza Shehbaz.
According to a representative for the party, the verdict would be challenged through an intra-court proceeding. He stated that the president or governor, rather than the high court, can nominate a person to administer the oath of office.
Following the announcement of its decision on Hamza Shahbaz’s plea earlier today, the Lahore High Court mandated that the oath of office be administered to the newly-elected Punjab Chief Minister (CM) by National Assembly (NA) Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
The high court ordered that the oath of office be administered to Punjab Chief Minister-elect Hamza Shahbaz on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. by the speaker of the National Assembly.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) delivered a nine-page ruling in which it declared that it is the court’s job to protest the fundamental rights and that the court has the constitutional authority to issue such an order under the constitution.
