Dua Zehra Case: Lahore police arrest Nikah Khwan

The police in Lahore have apprehended a Nikah Khwan (marriage officiator) who is accused of officiating the marriage of Dua Zehra, a 14-year-old girl who went missing from Karachi’s Shah Faisal Colony ten days ago and was traced to Lahore.

Mozang police arrested Hafiz Ghulam Mustafa, who was accused of officiating the marriage of the girl to Zaheer Ahmed, according to a marriage certificate obtained by the police department.

According to a police official, Nikah Khwan is being investigated in connection with the supposed marriage, and the true facts will be revealed only when the inquiry is completed.

Karachi police said earlier today that they had located and apprehended the 14-year-old girl. Authorities in Lahore confirmed that the girl had tied the knot with a guy called Zaheer Ahmed in the Punjab capital and that the Lahore police were working to rescue her and transport her to Karachi.

Hours after her disappearance from near her home in Alfalah Town on April 16, Dua Zehra’s family approached authorities and begged for assistance through a variety of avenues, including a welfare group, in order to locate their daughter.

Parents denied Nikahnama:

The parents of Dua Zehra have refuted police claims that they have located their daughter in Lahore, as well as the facts of her nikahnama, and have labeled rumors of her recovery as ‘false.’

According to her father, who spoke at a news conference, they heard about Dua Zehra’s wedding from the media, but he has not yet received a copy of the marriage certificate.

He also rejected rumors in the media that Zehra was under the legal age for marriage. The father went on to say that her daughter will turn 14 in four months, despite the fact that her age on her supposed marriage paper (nikahnama) was stated as being 18.

Address on Nikahnama:

According to the investigation, the address of Dua Zehra’s purported husband was also discovered to be out of date. A dispensary, which is operated by Dr. Abdul Hafeez, has been established at his home address in the neighborhood.

After seeing the nikahnama, the police hurried to the location of witnessing the nikahnama immediately. However, additional information would be given once the Karachi girl has returned home.
