Earlier on Sunday, Pakistan emphatically condemned harmful Indian propaganda regarding the alleged usage of the Kartarpur Corridor for business meetings.
It is clear, said a spokesman for Pakistan’s Foreign Office, that this concoction is part of India’s purposeful disinformation effort aimed at undermining Pakistan’s historic initiative to open the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor to Sikh pilgrims from India and throughout the world.
According to the spokesman, “there is nothing new about India’s desperate attempt to defame the “Corridor of Peace” and divert attention away from the grave injustices being perpetrated against its own minorities, particularly Muslims, who are being targeted with impunity by Hindu zealots in complete disregard of all tenets of law and justice.”
He went on to say that the rights of minorities are accorded the utmost priority by the Pakistani government. In Pakistan, the foreign office stated that the “sanctity of religious places and revered sites of every community is ensured.” The foreign office went on to say that, just recently, Pakistan hosted over 2000 Sikh pilgrims from India alone, who was here to participate in the annual Baisakhi festival, which will be held from April 12-21, 2022.
The foreign office requested that India refrain from making baseless accusations against the Kartarpur Corridor, which was given to the Sikh community as a gift by the government of Pakistan, and instead concentrate on taking meaningful steps to protect its own religious minorities and ensure the safety of their lives and places of worship.
