Qamar Zaman Kaira, a senior member of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), announced that party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will take oath as foreign minister (FM) within a few days.
Qamar Zaman Kaira, speaking to the media in London alongside former finance minister and PML-N leader Ishaq Dar, stated that all issues have been resolved and that the PPP chairman has left for Pakistan following a meeting with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
A press briefing was said to have stated that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would take the oath of office as foreign minister “within a day or two.”
On April 19, a stalemate between the PML-N and the Pakistan People’s Party persisted due to Bilawal’s refusal to take the oath of office as foreign minister.
According to sources familiar with the process, the consultations on Bilawal’s oath as a minister in Prime Minister Sharif’s cabinet had been completed, and the decision had been conditionally tied to the allotment of ministries to the ANP and Mohsin Dawar.
It should be recalled that the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) met with the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif earlier this week in London.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed his congratulations to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif on the overthrow of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. They debated the present political scenario in the country and exchanged opinions on it.
