Ellen Pompeo recently endorsed Katherine Heigl in a chat program. Pompeo, joined by Grey’s co-star Kate Walsh, pondered on Heigl’s statements made over a decade ago on her podcast Tell Me.
Pompeo recalled Heigl calling “long working hours on Grey’s Anatomy set” “cruel and unpleasant” on The Late Show with David Letterman in 2009.
“I recall Heigl saying something about the insane hours we were working, and she was 100% right,” she continued.
While stating that “she’s ahead of her time, making a statement about our insane hours and, of course, lets trash a woman and call her ungrateful,” Pompeo continued.
A time when speaking out was not the norm, the Daredevil star praised Heigl for her “courage.” Her co-star was likewise honest about the working conditions.
On the hit medical drama from 2005 to 2010, Heigl portrayed Dr. Izzie Stevens, who at the time was called “cruel” for working long hours on set.
In September of last year, the 27 Dresses star wrote a long Instagram post regarding the backlash she received for her remark.
