PM Shehbaz Sharif to speak public meeting in Mansehra after Eid

In a public meeting to be held shortly after the Eidul Fitr festival, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will announce the resumption of mega-development projects that were suspended by the previous Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government, according to Mohammad Sajjad, a member of Parliament from the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party.

The senator told that the PML-N administration had initiated the projects, which included the construction of Mansehra International Airport and the acquisition of land for a cemetery by four urban union councils.

He said that the PML-N government had allocated Rs300 million in 2017 to the district administration for the purpose of acquiring land for the proposed airport, but that the funds had not been utilized.

The former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, according to Mr. Sajjad, had also sanctioned Rs200 million for the acquisition of land for the burial, but that funds had gone unutilized, much to the chagrin of the locals of the area.

He stated that fresh development initiatives for the Mansehra district would be approved by the newly established coalition administration at the national level.

In five out of three tehsils (Mansehra, Balakot, and Baffa-Pakhal), the people chose the PML- N’s nominees to be the council chairman, who would then reinstate water and road projects, as well as gas and other projects that had been scrapped by the PTI government, according to the MNA.

District police officer Sajjad Khan has instructed the department to put security in Mansehra on high alert in the run-up to and during Eid and has directed that police personnel be stationed in bazaars and other sensitive areas to avoid any untoward incidents from occurring.

At a meeting with deputy superintendents of police, special officers of the police, and investigation officers on Thursday, he issued the directives.

The DPO stated that the police are responsible for monitoring the activities of outlaws who have been released from prison on bail or after serving a sentence and that any delinquency in this regard will not be accepted.

In addition, he stated that a crackdown on wheelies and motorbike racing on the roadways should be implemented immediately following the Iftar prayer.
