Internet speed in Pakistan will be slow on April 21

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has declared that internet speed in the country will be slow on April 21 due to a power reconfiguration.

It was announced by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) that power reconfiguration activities on a portion of international submarine cable, SMW4, will be carried out from 2-7am.

Originally, the activity was slated to take place from 2pm to 7pm, however the time was changed because to a planned public rally of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Lahore at that time.

Noting that certain internet users may suffer slower internet speeds, the PTA stated that additional steps will be implemented to ensure that users’ internet services would be uninterrupted in order to meet capacity needs.

The telecommunications authorities went on to say that it will endeavour to guarantee that the internet’s full functionality was available as soon as feasible.

In February, a cable cut in a submarine cable system located about 400 kilometres off the coast of Pakistan caused internet speed disruptions throughout the country.
