Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), met with Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman and Sardar Akhtar Mengal, members of the ruling coalition, to discuss the removal of President Arif Alvi by impeachment.
The former president met Zardari with the leaders of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) and the Baloch National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) in Islamabad to discuss the impeachment of President Arif Alvi and removal from office.
During the meeting, the leader of the JUI-F informed Asif Ali Zardari that his party will be bringing their nominee for the position of president.
Asif Ali Zardari is attempting to include the leader of the BNP-M in his cabinet. Sardar Akhtar Mengal demanded the formation of an inquiry committee into the Chaghi tragedy as a condition.
When Asif Ali Zardari attended the meeting, Sardar Akhtar Mengal advised him to double-check the numbers before making a decision.
In addition, he stated that the cabinet should be constructed in stages. Mengal also stated that when it comes to making choices, the coalition should remain together.
Earlier reports stated that President Dr. Arif Alvi has determined not to resign from his position as president.
According to the sources, the decision was reached following consultation with the PTI leadership, and he was advised to continue carrying out his constitutional responsibilities.
Furthermore, he did not administer the oath of office on behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his 34-member federal cabinet.
