Zahid Akram Durrani, a member of the National Assembly (MNA) who represents the JUI-F, has submitted nomination papers for the position of Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly Secretariat had previously published a schedule for the election of the deputy speaker of the House, and nomination papers for the position could be submitted to the Secretary National Assembly until April 19 (Tuesday) at 12 p.m., according to the schedule.
According to the National Assembly’s Secretariat, no other candidates beyond Zahid Akram Durrani submitted nomination documents. The election to fill the empty position of deputy speaker will take place on April 20th, 2022.

Because of a no-confidence motion brought against Qasim Suri by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, the seat became vacant after Qasim Suri resigned from his position (PML-N).
It is important to note that Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, a legislator from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), was chosen as the 22nd Speaker of the National Assembly on April 16 after no other contender filed nomination papers against him.
