Parvez Elahi filed a lawsuit against Hamza Shahbaz

Parvez Elahi, the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, has filed a petition in the session court seeking the registration of an FIR against Hamza Shahbaz, the Inspector General of Punjab, and others for causing a commotion and torturing members of the Punjab Assembly during the election of the chief minister.

Aamir Saeed, on behalf of Parvez Elahi, filed a lawsuit against 200 people accusing them of participating in torture and causing a commotion inside the assembly.

The court has accepted the plea and has requested responses from the Qila Gujjar Singh police station regarding the failure to register a case. The hearing has been extended till April 25, according to the court.

An investigation was launched on Sunday into the torture of Punjab Assembly deputy speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari and hooliganism within the House during the election of the state’s chief minister.

The case was recorded at the Qila Gujjar Singh police station in Lahore following a complaint lodged by DSP Shahzad Manzoor. He was charged with attempted murder, interference in governmental affairs, and other offenses.
