Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, the Prime Minister (PM) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), has announced his resignation from his position.
According to the spokesperson, the AJK Prime Minister (PM) has submitted his resignation to President Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Prior to that, Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, dismissed five members of his cabinet for misconduct and suspicious actions in the state.
Tanveer Ilyas, Abdul Majid Khan, Ali Shan, Khawaja Farooq, and Chaudhry Muhammad Akbar, according to a spokesperson for the AJK PM, were among those who had their contracts terminated.
According to the spokesperson, they were fired from their positions in the AJK cabinet due to malfeasance, corrupt practices, and suspicious actions.
On April 12, MPs from the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) tabled a motion in the AJK assembly secretariat calling for the resignation of their party’s prime minister.
Twenty-five members of the legislative assembly, including a minister, signed the resolution, and senior Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has been recommended to take over as the next speaker. Sardar Tanveer Ilyas has been recommended for the position of prime minister in the wake of the no-trust movement.
After meeting with Imran Khan on Wednesday, Qayyum Niazi informed the Pakistani leader about the facts and alleged plot being waged against him in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
