Asad Umar, the secretary-general of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former federal minister, declared on Tuesday that the party would file a complaint with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against harassment of PTI social media workers.
Asad Umar stated in a tweet that the petition against harassment of PTI employees is complete and will be filed.
Later, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested five people, including a political activist, for allegedly conducting an online disinformation campaign against the country’s military.
The arrests were made as a result of multiple raids carried out by the cybercrime arm of the federal agency in Lahore, Multan, Karachi, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, among other cities. The suspects have been turned over to the Federal Investigation Agency’s counter-terrorism division. Maqsood Arif, a political activist, was among those taken into custody.
