On Saturday, a petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court, requesting that the names of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and members of his cabinet be added to the Exit Control List (ECL).
The petition will be heard by the IHC tomorrow (Monday).
The appeal was presented by Maulvi Iqbal Haider as the former prime minister Imran Khan left the House following his removal from the post of the prime minister as a result of a vote of no-confidence against him on Saturday night.
The appeal asks for a probe into the purported threat letter, as well as an investigation into the former prime minister and his cabinet members’ involvement in the incident.
Haider has also sought that the IHC include former deputy speaker Qasim Suri and Asad Majeed on the ECL, in addition to Imran Khan, former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and Fawad Chaudhry.
Although the government tried everything it could to avoid voting on the no-confidence motion against then Prime Minister Imran Khan, the joint Opposition was successful in its month-long campaign to remove him from the prime minister’s office when 174 members of the National Assembly cast their votes against him, deciding his fate after much drama in the House.
