According to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear a challenge to a no-trust motion against Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly filed by the party.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the PML-N parliamentarians and Attaullah Tarar will file a petition with the Supreme Court challenging the no-trust motion against the deputy speaker.
The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has moved a no-trust resolution against Dost Muhammad Mazari, the Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly after he insisted on calling a session of the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday.
The PTI members of the province legislature submitted a no-trust motion against the deputy speaker who is sponsored by their party to the secretary of the provincial assembly. Dost Muhammad Mazari no longer has the ability to convene a session of the provincial legislature, as previously reported.
After calling a special session of the Punjab Assembly for tonight at 7:30 pm to elect a new chief minister, Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari announced that it would convene at that time.
The combined nominee of the PTI and the PML-Q is Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, whereas the unified opposition has nominated PML-N Vice President Hamza Shahbaz for the coveted seat in the National Assembly.
In an earlier statement, Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari announced that the provincial assembly session would be adjourned till April 16.
The session, which included the election of a new chief minister, was originally scheduled to take place on April 6, but Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari postponed it until April 16.
The speaker, in a complete turn, convened the assembly to meet at 7.30 p.m. on April 6 instead.
