The information minister made the news via his Twitter account, stating that Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar had been relieved of his duties and that the appointment of a new governor for Punjab would be announced later.

He stated that, in accordance with the Constitution, the deputy speaker shall serve as the acting governor of the province.

The development comes ahead of a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly, which is set to take place on Sunday.

It was revealed by individuals familiar with the incident that Sarwar was held responsible for convincing the Aleem Khan group to vote in favor of PML-N nominee Hamza Shahbaz. “The topic was brought up by Pervaiz Elahi with Prime Minister Imran Khan, which resulted in his ouster,” the statement stated.
