Following the announcement by three MPAs of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) dissident section, the Jahangir Tareen group, that they will support Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in the Punjab Chief Minister’s election on Sunday.
“Tareen Group Three MPAs, Ameer Muhammad, Abdul Hayee, and Rafaqat Gillani, have declared their support for Pervaiz Elahi,” according to sources in the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid.
“These members, together with Chaudhry Moonis Elahi, made it to the Punjab Assembly,” according to sources. “More members of the Tareen gang will shortly join us,” according to party insiders.
However, the Jahangir Khan Tareen group has officially proclaimed its support for the unified opposition’s nominee for the Punjab chief ministership, Hamza Shehbaz, which was announced earlier today.
The announcement of the JKT group was made at a news conference in Lahore by MPA Nauman Langrial, who was also present with the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz.
‘The Tareen group has decided to vote for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in tomorrow’s Punjab chief minister election,’ said Langrial, adding that the choice was made for the betterment of the country.
Earlier, Hamza Shehbaz and a group from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) arrived at the residence of Malik Nauman Langrial.
Attending the meeting were members of the Tareen group, including Faisal Jaboana and Abdul Hayee Dasti, as well as MPs Saeed Niwani, Salman Naeem, and Tahir Randhawa, Ishaq Khan Khakwani, and others.
186 parliamentarians from the 371-member Punjab Assembly will be necessary to win the chief ministerial election, which will be held on Sunday to choose the province’s new chief minister.
