Following the resignation of Punjab CM Usman Buzdar, the unified opposition has resolved to nominate the Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, Hamza Shehbaz.
The combined opposition has decided to put Hamza Shehbaz up for the office of the Punjab chief minister (CM). Sources tell us that the opposition will announce his nomination tonight.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) also hosted a party meeting in Model Town, where Shehbaz Sharif and other top party officials may participate via telephone.
As many as 150 MPAs from the PML-N have arrived at the Punjab Assembly building. It was Hamza Shehbaz who presided over the discussion of the current situation and the opposition’s strategy in the session.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar earlier in the day. The provincial cabinet was disbanded as a result of his resignation.
After meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad today, the governor accepted the resignation of Buzdar.
Governor Sarwar received Usman Buzdar’s resignation on March 30. On March 28, CM Usman Buzdar resigned to Prime Minister Imran Khan, who accepted the resignation.
Pervaiz Elahi, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q), was nominated by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration to be Punjab’s, Chief Minister.
