Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly and a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, will meet Prime Minister Imran Khan at Bani Gala after the latter gained the confidence of his party members by announcing that Elahi will be appointed as the province’s chief minister (CM).
According to reliable sources, the prime minister took members of the political committee into confidence when it came to appointing PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi to the position of chief minister (CM) of Punjab.
In a significant event earlier in the day, Prime Minister Imran Khan agreed to hand the position of Punjab chief minister to Pervaiz Elahi, the head of the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q).
After a no-trust resolution was presented against the Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar, a delegation led by Federal Minister for Planning Development Asad Umar reached out to the PML-Q leader and Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi, according to the latest development in the case.
According to sources, Asad Umar delivered an important message from Prime Minister Imran Khan to PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi during the meeting. The meeting between the government delegation and the PML-Q leadership took place at the residence of PML-Q chairman Pervaiz Elahi in Islamabad, they claimed.
On Monday, the opposition tabled a no-trust resolution against Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in the Punjab Assembly secretariat, prompting the government to make contact with them.
