A 13-year-old Cassidy Murray Boston girl died in a bizarre boating accident while on a family vacation in Aruba, authorities said Saturday.
Cassidy Murray, a Buckingham Browne and Nichols School student, died on Wednesday. Her death has been kept a secret by the police and her family.
After verifying the tragedy with school officials, her family posted a statement and a photo of Cassidy.
‘With crushed hearts, we announce Cassidy’s untimely death,’ said the Murray family.
‘All who knew and loved Cassidy will miss her beautiful spirit, loving heart, bright mind, and enthusiastic zest for life.’
‘We thank everyone for their love and support and ask that you please allow us time and space to grieve privately.’
Cassidy was a hockey player and a gymnast, according to Jennifer Price, Head of School. Her brother, a 10th-grader at Buckingham Browne & Nichols, urged her to move from Milton’s Pierce Middle School.
‘She made her mark on the MS campus quickly. Murray’s constant smile, contagious laugh, and positive demeanour bonded any group she was in,’ Price said.
‘Her genuine kindness and modesty endeared her to her classmates. The first week of school, her classmates knew she would be a trusted, warm confidante with a tremendous sense of fun and togetherness.
