The latest PTA survey shows that SMS services in Pakistan are below standard and data services are satisfactory

The Telecommunications Authority of Pakistan (PTA) has published the results of an independent survey on cellular service quality (Q4) for the fourth quarter (Q4) on its PTA website.

The study shows that the SMS services provided by mobile operators (CMOs) in Pakistan are below the minimum licensing standards required, while the data services provided by CMOs are considered satisfactory and meet the standards.

These results were released after a detailed analysis of the agency survey results Q4 2020.

Regulators perform independent quality of service (QoS) with newly acquired automated tools to monitor and compare the quality of intelligent comparison services in different cities in Pakistan including Kabirvala, Hyderabad from 23 November to 11 December 2020., Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Queta and Peshawar.

The research was conducted to measure the performance and quality of 2G (GSM), 3G (UMTS / HSPA +) and 4G (LTE) services provided by cellular operators (CMO).

Based on the results of this study, cellular operators in the country are instructed to correct identified anomalies and take corrective action to upgrade voice, SMS and data services to licensed standards in the next 30 days.
