PPP will not let govt postpone National Assembly session

Farhatullah Babar, Secretary-General of the Pakistan People’s Party, has announced that the National Assembly session of the opposition legislators will take place at 10:00 a.m today.

During a press conference held following the PPP’s parliamentary party meeting today, Farhatullah Babar stated that the strategy for today’s National Assembly session has been finalized.

He voiced his optimism that the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan will be successful. He asserted that the premier is threatening the opposition political parties in the country. He asserted that the NA session scheduled for today is illegitimate. Babar went on to say that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will not be allowed to postpone the National Assembly session.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the NA Secretariat had failed to publish the agenda for the session and that the government was employing delay tactics at the time.

At a special session presided over by Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, all Members of Parliament (MNAs) were given specific instructions on the Lower House session.

The PPP MNAs have been directed to report to the Parliament Buildings at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15. Asif Ali Zardari has requested that the PPP Members of Parliament refrain from causing mayhem during the NA session.

He expressed concern that the PTI government will attempt to create a tense atmosphere during the National Assembly session. The opposition will suffer a setback if there is any disruption during the NA session, he stated further.

The opposition parties, Zardari stated during the session, have defeated the PTI administration and that all members of Parliament should exercise patience throughout the future session. The PPP legislators have been informed that the dissident PTI MNAs have assured them that they will participate in the vote on the no-confidence resolution against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He directed Members of Parliament to adhere to the policy under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
