COAS Bajwa and Wang Yi talk about regional peace and bilateral ties

According to Inter-Services Public Relations  (ISPR), Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Pakistani Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

Topics of mutual interest, regional security, and steps to further expand bilateral defense cooperation were all discussed at the discussion, which lasted three hours.

According to the Chinese foreign minister, the relationship between Pakistan and China is founded on a convergence of viewpoints as well as mutual respect.

Wang Yi expressed his admiration for the professionalism of the Pakistan Army and stated that the international community should recognize Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace and stability. He expressed gratitude for the protection offered to the CPEC and stated that China believes in the concept of inclusive development.

According to COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who spoke about the 48th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers, it was a watershed moment in terms of dealing with the dire humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and uniting the international community around a shared vision and joint strategy in order to find solutions to emerging challenges in a region that is critical for peace and stability.

The COAS Bajwa also expressed his gratitude to Foreign Minister Wang Yi for his visit and for China’s sustained support for Pakistan.

The visiting dignitary expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s contribution to regional stability and offered to do everything in his power to help the country enhance its diplomatic relations with all levels of government. He expressed particular appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts in hosting the 48th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Council of Foreign Ministers.
