PML-N spokeswoman Marriyum Aurangzeb sought punishment against Prime Minister Imran Khan for holding public rallies and exploiting state resources ahead of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body poll.
“Imran Khan should be penalised for violating the code of conduct under sections 181, 233 and 234,” Aurangzeb added.
He should be held under Section 233 Election Act, she continued, because his actions reveal he does not respect the Constitution or the laws.
He also criticised the PM for failing to account for “billions in unlawful foreign funding, money laundering, a deteriorating economy and high inflation.”
For attending an election rally in Lower Dir on March 12, the ECP issued notices to PM Imran Khan and other PTI officials, according to The News.
According to the modified code of conduct, PTI leaders spoke during a public rally in violation of the rule of conduct. He had earlier advised the prime minister to cancel his intentions, and now he has asked him to attend in person or through counsel on March 14.
The DMO said there was enough evidence to indicate the code had been breached.
Without a written defence or an appearance before the undersigned, in person or through counsel, an ex-parte decision would be made under Section 243 of the Elections Act, 2017.
