political confrontation disregards Islamic values: Mufti Taqi

A well-known Islamic scholar, Mufti Taqi Usmani, expressed his deep concern about the dangers posed by the ongoing battle among the country’s top political leaders, saying that Islamic values are being violated in the current political squabble.

After Prime Minister Imran Khan made a series of harsh statements against political opponents over the previous several days in response to the filing of a no-trust motion against the premier.

Mufti Usmani made his message public today via his official Twitter account.

“It’s upsetting to see how Islamic principles and beliefs are being twisted for political gain as political squabbles continue to flare. May Allah keep us safe from the ramifications of our decisions and actions. People should not make fun of one another, gossip about one another, be suspicious of one another, or address someone by their first name, according to Surah Al-Hujurat of the Holy Quran.”

Furthermore, Mufti urged on political leaders to be decent, emphasising that failing to do so is also harmful to society as a whole.

“In any debate, political or intellectual in nature, turning it into a matter of self-immolation and verbal abuse against one’s fellow citizens is destructive to society. Instead of employing foul language, opponents should make arguments based on facts and evidence. Take a look at the direction we are heading in “, said Mufti.
