Former senator and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Tanveer was hospitalised after complaining of a cardiac condition.
The anti-corruption squad jailed PML-N leader grew unwell and was transported to Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology. Tanveer had been sick for two days, sources claimed.
Hospital sources revealed that the PML-N leader will be tested and that the length of his stay will be determined by the results.
Tanveer had returned from his medical treatment abroad to attend his son’s wedding. He was returning from treatment overseas when he was detained by immigration officers at Karachi airport on Friday night.
He was then flown to Lahore and handed up to the anti-corruption team in Rawalpindi. Tanveer was driven from Lahore to Rawalpindi under heavy guard. Because the anti-corruption unit had no own jail, he was held at the Cantonment Police Station.
Tanveer was arrested on March 8 and will be remanded before a duty magistrate on Sunday, anti-corruption officials said. On remand, the anti-corruption director organised an investigation team.
Tanveer’s kids, lawyer, and a huge number of PML-N workers rushed to the Cantt Police Station upon hearing of his transfer. But the cops wouldn’t let anyone meet him.
Detained in Karachi and taken to Lahore without a transit bail, according to PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz. According to her, Tanveer’s family was denied access to provide him medicine in the jail.
