In a recent statement, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar expressed his belief that Pakistan’s historic move of issuing the Kisan Card will alter the country’s agriculture sector by bringing prosperity to farmers.
In the event of a natural disaster, the Kisan Card will support farmers in the purchase of fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides, as well as the provision of loans and assistance for injured crops. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is implementing a number of agricultural development initiatives around the country.
His remarks came during a meeting with a delegation led by Sardar Mubashir Majeed Dogar of the All Pakistan Farmers and Labor Ittehad, Central President of the All Pakistan Farmers and Labor Ittehad, and Sardar Shahid Mehmood, patron of the Pakistan Farmers Labor Ittehad, which took place at the Governor House in Lahore. Various concerns, as well as problems, such as the reduction in the price of fertilisers and assuring timely supply, the repeal of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on agricultural seeds, and different types of equipment, were discussed during the conference.
In his remarks at the meeting, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar stated that the introduction of the Kisan Card would usher in an agrarian revolution in the country, which would make the lives of farmers easier through the use of technology, the increase in agricultural production, and the conservation of foreign exchange. Furthermore, this program will contribute to the reduction of poverty, particularly in rural areas. Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar stated that the government is working on agricultural development projects of Rs. 300 billion, which he estimates to be worth Rs. 300 billion. Apart from the two large dams, lesser dams are being constructed in order to improve the supply of water to crops, and the canal system is being renovated. As part of his commitment to the country, he stated that he will personally oversee the implementation of the agriculture sector development plan. Agriculture gear and solar systems are available for purchase at subsidized rates from registered dealers under the Kisan Card Trial Scheme. The minister went on to say that over 30,000 service stations have been established around the province to assist farmers in getting Kisan Cards.
Governor of Punjab, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, stated that the current government is working on a number of projects to address the concerns of farmers, as well as the problems of other sections of society, and to strengthen those areas of society. Farmers will not be abandoned, and we will not stand by and allow oppression and injustice to be perpetrated against them.
On his recent tour to the United States and Uzbekistan, Punjab’s governor announced that he had signed Memorandums of Understanding with agricultural colleges for the development and research of new agricultural seeds across the country, including in Punjab. He went on to say that we must all work together to strengthen Pakistan.
