Hamid Mir, a senior journalist at Geo News, delivered a speech in which he condemned the attack on journalist Asad Toor on his colleague, he was removed from the network’s broadcast.
Hamid Mir has now been nine months since he was removed from the network’s broadcast, and he has returned to it.
The news was revealed by Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), during a press conference held on Tuesday afternoon. Mir will return to his role as Capital Talk’s host after a brief absence, during which the show was presented by Munib Farooq, who will be replaced by Mir in the role.
According to the network, Mir was removed from his role as a journalist on the programme in May 2021 as a result of a passionate outburst outside the National Press Club.
Mir had spoken out against an unnamed assailant’s attack on journalist Asad Ali Toor earlier in the day, which had taken place in a nearby district. Despite the fact that he eventually expressed regret for his statements, Geo TV management opted to have him removed from the air.
Affection for the venerable journalists returned almost immediately after their reappearance, with many taking to Twitter to express their delight at their comeback.
The following is an excerpt from Murtaza Ali Shah’s remarks during Zardari’s news conference.
