Fawad Chaudhry reports that PM Imran Khan will soon tour Europe

Prime Minister Imran Khan would be embarking on a European tour in the near future, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry dispelled the myth that Pakistan’s relations with the western bloc have deteriorated as a result of the Ukraine crisis.

Prime Minister Imran Khan’s European tour is scheduled to begin in the coming months. It was extremely clear when Fawad was asked about the Ukraine-Russia conflict during a news conference in Lahore with Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood that the country’s position on the crisis was very clear. “We believe that de-escalation and dialogue are preferable to military alternatives,” Fawad stated.

The tour is particularly significant because of the current tensions between the two countries as a result of a statement made by European Union envoys questioning Pakistan’s position on the Ukraine war, which has strained relations.

Asim Iftikhar, the Deputy Foreign Secretary, argued that adopting a strong stance against Pakistan was inappropriate and went against “diplomatic norms.”

At the United Nations General Assembly earlier this week, a resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was introduced, and the envoys of 22 countries, including EU member states, joined forces in urging Pakistan to support the resolution.
