Peshawar attack: 2 suspects arrested as CTD begins investigation

KP police have launched an inquiry into the horrible attack on a mosque in the Koocha Risaldar area of Peshawar on Friday. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the KP police has begun its probe.

A special investigation team of the CTD has arrested two suspects in connection with the inquiry into the blast, according to reliable sources.


According to officials, the lone suicide attacker opened fire on a police officer stationed at the mosque’s main entrance before entering the building itself. According to the authorities, seven spent 9mm handgun bullet casings were discovered at the blast scene.

The CTD team has taken statements from those who were hurt in the incident, as well as footage from CCTV cameras that have been put in various locations throughout the city.

Police have created sketches of the suicide attacker and his two co-conspirators, according to a police spokesman, who also stated that body pieces discovered at the scene have been sent to a lab for a blood test.

The station house officer (SHO) of Khan Raziq police station has submitted a letter to the CTD requesting that an incident report be filed under the murder, attempted murder, and terrorist sections of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

According to preliminary estimates, 57 worshippers died and more than 150 people were injured when a suicide attacker detonated a bomb in the Koocha Risaldar area of the city on Friday.
