Uzbekistan president will pay a visit to Pakistan

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, will pay a two-day official visit to Pakistan on March 4 according to the foreign office.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to the Foreign Office, President Mirziyoyev will be making his first visit to Pakistan since taking office in 2016.

The state visit of President Mirziyoyev would mark the historic observance of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, which would be the first time this had happened.

They will discuss the whole range of bilateral relations, including cooperation in the areas of politics, trade, and economics, connectivity, education, culture, security, and defense among other areas of cooperation.

During the meeting, they will engage in a wide-ranging exchange of opinions on important regional and worldwide problems. A number of bilateral agreements/memorandums of understanding (MoUs) will be inked.

An individual meeting between the prime minister and the president of Uzbekistan will take place, which will be followed by delegation-level discussions and a joint media stakeout.

Additionally, the prime minister will organize a state banquet for the Uzbek president, who will have a separate meeting with President Arif Alvi after the banquet.

The two countries would work together to strengthen political and strategic connections, expedite trade, transportation, and economic ties, improve connectivity, and promote educational and cultural collaborations.

On July 15, 2021, Prime Minister Khan undertook a two-day visit to Tashkent at the request of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Furqat Sidiqov, speaking at a news briefing in Islamabad today, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties with Pakistan through increased connectivity, according to reports.

He stated that direct flights between Lahore and Tashkent will be introduced in the first phase and that flights between Karachi and Tashkent will be restarted in the second phase, respectively.

Furqat Sidiqov believes that the planned visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan will aid in increasing the volume of trade between the two nations’ friendly relationships.
