IJF revoked President Putin’s honorary presidency

The International Judo Federation (IJF) has withdrawn the honorary presidency of Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the organisation.

According to a statement released by the International Judo Federation, following the attack on Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s honorary presidency of the federation has been revoked, and he has also been removed from his position as honorary ambassador.

President Putin is an accomplished judoka who was elevated to the position of eighth dean in 2014, one of the highest ranks in the sport.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been raging for five days, and the Russian army has encircled many cities, including the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, in order to maintain control.
