Speaking on the phone with his Ukrainian counterpart, FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi discussed the evacuation of Pakistanis from Ukraine and the safe return of those Pakistanis to their homeland on Sunday.
FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi spoke on Pakistan’s point of view, expressing serious worry about the situation, emphasizing the significance of de-escalation, and emphasizing the indispensability of diplomatic efforts.
He expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian authorities for their assistance in the evacuation process and requested that they continue to provide assistance and ensure a seamless border crossing as soon as possible, according to Radio Pakistan.
The foreign minister stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed sadness for the current situation between Russia and Ukraine during his recent visit to Moscow, adding that Pakistan had hoped that diplomacy would be able to prevent a military war between the two countries.
The Secretary-General emphasized that conflict is not in anyone’s best interests and that developing countries are always the ones who suffer the most economically as a result of the conflict.
FM Qureshi emphasized Pakistan’s stance that problems should be addressed via conversation and diplomacy, rather than through force.
He expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian authorities for their assistance in the evacuation operation and requested that they continue to provide assistance and ensure a seamless border crossing as soon as feasible. The two foreign ministers decided to continue to communicate with one another.
