Kamran Ali Afzal, Punjab Chief Secretary (CS), has asked all deputy commissioners (DCs) to tighten steps to prevent the smuggling of wheat and fertilizers. He has also directed all DCs to continue monitoring the compost supply and stocks through an online portal.
On Saturday, the Civil Secretary gave this command while presiding over a video-link meeting of divisional commissioners and district commissioners at the Civil Secretariat.
According to Afzal, the agricultural output can be adversely affected in the event of a fertilizer shortage.
He went on to say that the government will protect the interests of farmers in whatever circumstance and that profiteers would be dealt with harshly.
The CS also instructed the police to strictly enforce the road safety regulations outside of schools and to take action against those who violated the regulations. It was suggested by him that a dedicated period should be instituted in schools to emphasize the significance of hygiene.
He stated that a long-term solution to the problem of rubbish piles in urban areas should be developed as soon as possible. In addition, the CS gave instructions to begin making preparations for dealing with potential urban floods amid heavy rains.
