We should stop marriages between cousins in dramas, says Ushna Shah

Pakistani drama actress Ushna Shah recently talked about marriages between cousins. She said that cousin marriages became more common now. Therefore, the health issues have arisen as a result.

According to the media reports, the sickness has passed along through marriages between relatives. It is resulting in a new generation affected. The following generation suffers from several ailments as a direct result of cousin weddings.

According to the actress, these youngsters are at risk of developing a potentially fatal blood condition like thalassemia. Ushna Shah argues that we as artists and creators shouldn’t promote marriages between cousins in dramas.

In Pakistan, 65 to 75 percent of weddings take place inside the family. Moreover, with 80 percent of marriages taking place between first cousins.
