Sanjay Leela’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ may change to another name before release

The Supreme Court of India recommended that the name change of Alia Bhatt’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi‘. Whereas, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has only two days till the release of his film.

According to reports, in light of multiple outstanding lawsuits against the distribution of the film, the Supreme Court made the recommendation. It suggest that before the court resumes its hearing tomorrow, Bhansali’s lawyer will seek instructions from the filmmaker.

The publication of the film based on the life of the Gangubai. She came to political prominence in the Mumbai suburb of Kamathipura and the subject of several legal challenges. As shown in Alia Bhatt plays the protagonist in the film.

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court rejected three petitions seeking the removal of the phrases Kamathipura, Kathiawadi and China from the Hindi film. A lawsuit has filed by Babu Ravji Shah, claiming that the film defames his mother. He has taken the case to Bombay High Court, arguing that the release of the film should halt.

According to Alia Bhatt, she has unfazed by the film’s controversy. In her opinion, there’s no need to worry about any debate or criticism. She don’t think anything disturbs her past a certain threshold.

Moreover, It is not only the ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ has to change name but the names of several of his films, such as Goliyon Ka Raasleela Ram-Leela and Padmaavat have already renamed.
