KP LG votes: Woman sets fire to polls in Karak

A woman set a ballot box on fire at a voting station in Karak during the KP Local Government (LG) elections, in a horrific event.

According to the deputy commissioner of Karak, a lady attempted to set fire to her voting paper after lighting fire to the ballot box at the Dehli Lowagar polling station in Karak, according to the deputy commissioner.

Following the receipt of the tip, the police party arrived on the scene and arrested the woman with the assistance of CCTV footage. The DC went on to say that the votes in the ballot box had been damaged and that some of them had been completely obliterated by the explosion.

He stated that an inquiry is underway to determine the reason for the woman’s actions and that the polling process has been reinstated after being suspended for a period of time.

The process of re-election for local government (LG) positions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) 13 districts is currently underway.

Nowshera, Khyber, Mohmand, Mardan, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Buner, Bajaur, Charsadda, and Peshawar are among the 13 districts in the province of KP. On Election Day, security precautions have also been put in place to ensure that law and order are maintained.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, the voting procedure, which began at 8 a.m. and will last till 5 p.m., will take place without interruption (ECP).

To accommodate the re-voting for the KP LG elections, more than 500 polling booths have been built up around the country.
