Prince William went on Dubai tour to celebrate UK and discussed achieving “a more sustainable world” through his environmental projects. He has excited to visit the city in the United Arab Emirates on his first major overseas tour since 2019.
The prince has made his first official trip to the UAE and visited the event on Thursday for UK National Day. He joined events showcasing British talent at the Dubai Expo 2020.
Prince William tweeted, “Excited for my Dubai tour with earthshotprize and United for Wildlife to celebrate our country at DubaiExpo. Also highlight the crucial subject of working together with UAE partners to build a more sustainable world.”
The event has initially supposed to run in 2020 but its opening delayed until October because of the Covid-19 pandemic. More than 190 countries are showcasing their cultures and innovations and Dubai’s government has spent an estimated £5.2bn on the event. The goal is to bring in 25 million tourists and investors to the Emirates.
Britain has strong ties with the oil-producing nation, which made up of seven gulf states formerly part of the British Empire. During the visit Prince William will learn more about initiatives protecting wildlife in the region.
