A Lahore court again issued arrest warrants for singer Meesha Shafi and others in connection with an investigation. They have allegedly engaged in a smear campaign against actor-singer Ali Zafar.
Ms. Shafi’s request for an in-person attendance in today’s hearing has rejected by Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Murtaza. Court summoned Meesha Shafi through bailable arrest warrants of Rs50,000.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) responded to a court order under section 20 (1) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and R/W 109-PPC by filing a FIR against Meesha Shafi and the other suspects.
In the meantime, the FIA has already filed the challan with the court. Allegations of sexual harassment have made against Ali Zafar by Ms. Shafi on April 19, 2018. However she failed to bring any witnesses before the FIA to back up her claims.
According to available oral and documentary evidence, Meera Shafi alias Meesha Shafi, Iffat Omar, Maham Javaid, Leena Ghani, Haseemus Zaman, Fariha Ayub, Syed Faizan Raza, Humna Raza, and Ali Gul Pir have found guilty in this case over the course of the inquiry. Although the complainant recorded his testimony in favour of Hamna Raza to the point of accepting her apologies. She is not necessary in the inquiry any further.
