The popularity of Turkish drama series in Pakistan has grown steadily since Aşk-ı Memnu to Diriliş: Ertuğrul. Now PTV plans to capitalise on this by airing a new series on the last Ottoman emperor. Payitaht: Abdulhamid will air in Urdu on the state-run channel. Reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II reign as Ottoman sultan is the setting for this historical drama.
PTV officially tweeted, “after Ertugrul’s historic triumph, PTV is conveying the story of a Sultan who has a sincere commitment to the love of the Prophet (PBUH). Sultan Abdulhamid II was a shining episode in the history of the Muslim Ummah. The historical drama will begin airing this week on Wednesday at 7:55 PM and run through Sunday at 8:55 PM.”
The first episode will be air on February 9, 2022. There are 150 episodes in the original series, which spans five seasons.
