Water projects feature in PM meetings with Chinese investors: Fawad Chaudhry

Water projects in Karachi and Faisalabad were discussed during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s meetings with Chinese investors, according to Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, who spoke on Saturday.

“The water supply project for Karachi (K-4), the Hub Canal, and the water treatment plant in Faisalabad were all discussed in the talks,” he said in a press conference after the meeting. He went on to say that the prime minister would be in attendance at a luncheon held by Chinese President Xi Jinping in honor of visiting heads of state later this afternoon.

According to Fawad, he would also meet with United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang later in the evening, among other people.

During his speech, the minister noted that Pakistani athletes were competing in their country’s first Winter Olympics in China. He went on to say that the Pakistani contingent was greeted warmly by the Chinese people upon entering the stadium, a manifestation of the deep-rooted bilateral relations between the two countries.


Fawad stated that the friendship between Pakistan and China was founded on the mutual expression of love between the people of the two countries. He stated that Chinese investors had expressed an interest in making investments in Pakistan. According to the minister, during his discussions with think tanks, Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasized that the world could not afford another Cold War at this point in time. He cited Pakistan’s Prime Minister as saying that the country was prepared to contribute to the resolution of the issue between the United States (US) and China.

He went on to say that Prime Minister Imran Khan would meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday. According to Fawad, the bilateral relations between the two countries would be discussed during discussions with the Chinese leadership.
