PTI officials have criticized the torture against members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) in Karachi, near the Sindh Chief Minister’s residence.
The federal minister for information and broadcasting, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, on Wednesday criticized “the hooliganism” of the Sindh police against peaceful MQM-P activists who were conducting a protest against the provincial government’s recently approved local government law.
A violent incident such as this occurred at a time when an event such as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was set to take place, according to the minister, who expressed his displeasure in a tweet.
He stated that the leadership of the PTI’s Sindh branch was keeping a close eye on the issue and assured the MQM of his unwavering support.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail described the thrashing of female protestors as “particularly heinous” and “very terrible.” He stated that the demonstration of governmental strength against peaceful protestors was not a positive development.
During an interview with Dr. Shahbaz Gill, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication, Dr. Shahbaz Gill claimed that the torture of MQM members in Karachi was a deplorable crime on the part of the PPP’s Sindh government, which should be embarrassed by itself.
Dr. Gill went on to say that while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders themselves desired to march everywhere, they lacked the fortitude to tolerate their opponents.
Farrukh Habib, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, claimed that the emergence of a ‘Police Gardi’ above the crowd had revealed the totalitarian nature of the PPP’s so-called democracy pretender.
He claimed that Bilawal and Zardari sought to silence people’s opposition to the ‘black law’ of local authorities by the use of force, which he stated was not acceptable at any cost.
In a statement, Murtaza Wahab, advisor to the Sindh Chief Minister and administrator of Karachi, expressed his sadness at the news of the death. “May Allah Taa’ala blesses his soul,”. However, I verified with the JPMC and found that neither a person by the name of Aslam Bhai was brought to the hospital nor death of this nature had been documented. “MQM MPA Sadaqat and Tariq were taken to JPMC and released after receiving treatment,” he wrote on Twitter.
Murtaza Wahab claimed that the MQM had obtained permission to hold a rally from Shahra e Faisal to the Karachi Press Club, but that the group suddenly descended on the Red Zone near the Sindh Chief Minister’s residence.
It was his assertion that the cops attempted to interact with them till the end and persuade them that it was inappropriate to demonstrate near the hotel where foreign players from the PSL were staying.
